About Us

Based in Naugatuck, CT and serving the surrounding areas, Helping Outside Animals is a foster-based animal rescue run entirely by volunteers. Our team feeds, traps, fosters, transports, and provides medical care for strays in need, ensuring they find safe and loving homes. We also collaborate with reputable rescues and focus our efforts where help is needed most. Since we do not receive grants, we depend on the support of our community to continue our work.

Mookie

Meet Mookie – A Sweetheart Looking for His Forever Home! ❤️🐾

Mookie is a gorgeous boy who was sadly abandoned near one of our feeding stations. Despite his rough start, this sweet boy has been adjusting beautifully in his foster home and is ready to find a loving forever family. This gentle soul is incredibly sweet and affectionate, and he would likely thrive in a calm home with another easy-going feline companion.

Shadow

Meet Shadow – A Sweet & Playful Lovebug! 🖤🐾

Shadow may take a little time to adjust, but once he feels safe, his affectionate side shines through! This sweet boy is a total lovebug who will purr all day long as long as he’s getting pets.

He adores playtime—squeaky toys, cat tunnels, laser pointers, and feathery toys bring out his curiosity and joy. His expressions of wonder while playing are simply priceless! And if you’re looking for a cuddle buddy, Shadow loves to be held and will happily soak up all the affection you have to give.

Mooie

Meet Mooie – Your New Best Friend! 🐾

Mooie’s journey hasn’t been easy—he was abandoned about two years ago, relying on a kind feeder who reached out to us for help. Now, at approximately 3 years old, Mooie is thriving in his foster home and has proven to be an absolute sweetheart! He adores affection and will soak up all the love you have to give.

This handsome boy is ready to find his forever home! The sooner Mooie is adopted, the sooner his amazing foster parents can rescue another cat in need. Could you be the one to give Mooie the safe, loving home he deserves?

How to Adopt

Like all reputable rescues, we use adoption fees to help ensure pets are placed in responsible, loving homes. All of our adoptable pets are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations.

100% of adoption fees go directly toward rescuing the next animal—helping to offset the costs of trapping, veterinary care, and foster support until they find their forever home.

Adoption Fees:

• Kittens under 6 months: $275

• Adult Cats: $200

• Senior or Special Care Cats: $150

• Bonded Cat Pairs: $300

• Dogs: $350

General Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible to adopt from us, we ask that you:

• Ensure all current animals in your household are up to date on their vaccinations

• Provide a veterinary reference

• If renting, provide proof of permission to have pets (e.g., lease agreement or landlord reference)

• Agree to a brief video tour of your home

Interested in Fostering Instead?

Fostering is free, temporary, and one of the most impactful and rewarding opportunities for animal lovers. If approved, we will work with you to match you with an animal that meets your general criteria. Several of our fosters have adopted their foster pets! Foster eligibility criteria is similar to the requirements listed above for adoptions.
