About Our Organization
Based in Naugatuck, CT and serving the surrounding areas, Helping Outside Animals is a foster-based animal rescue run entirely by volunteers. Our team feeds, traps, fosters, transports, and provides medical care for strays in need, ensuring they find safe and loving homes. We also collaborate with reputable rescues and focus our efforts where help is needed most. Since we do not receive grants, we depend on the support of our community to continue our work.
Find All Essential Links & Forms on Our Linktree
Our Linktree is your go-to resource for requesting animal assistance, making a pledge or donation, submitting an application, exploring our social media pages, and contacting us. You can find it here or in the bio of all our social media pages.
How to Request Help for an Animal
If you need help of any type for an animal, you can submit it on our Help Request Form. Submissions are monitored by our team. On this form, you can request:
General rescue placement
Urgent assistance for an injured or sick animal
Assistance with a cat colony (like finding a feeder or trapper)
Help for suspected abused or neglected animals
Free stray cat shelters and straw, subject to availability
Emergency rehoming/surrendering of a pet
Help finding a lost pet
Advice on animal care or local resources
How to Make a Pledge
We have a new form we ask all patrons use when making a pledge. A pledge is a promise to donate a certain amount. We collect pledges to determine if we will have the funds necessary to take a specific animal into our care. We will ask you to fulfill your pledge only once the animal has received enough pledges and has been successfully rescued or trapped. You can find the new pledge form here:
How to Make a Monetary Donation
We currently accept donations via Venmo, CashApp, PayPal, and GoFundMe for animals in our care. These can be found on our Linktree under Donations. At times, we also fundraise for animals at other reputable rescues we partner with. In these cases, donations can be directed to the rescue's preferred method.
Our Wish Lists
Our Amazon Wish List can be found below. This is an easy way to send food and materials needed for strays and fosters. Thank you for your support! ๐โโฌโฅ๏ธ

Trapping & Borrowing Materials
Thanks to the generous donations of our supporters and volunteers, Helping Outside Animals is now able to lend humane traps and carriers with a refundable deposit. As a small volunteer-run rescue, our ability to help is directly tied to the support we receive from the community. To ease the burden on our dedicated volunteers, we kindly ask that you consider assisting in the trapping process for the animal(s) you are advocating for. We will provide training, bait, and all necessary supplies to support your efforts. Loan requests can be submitted here:
Foster with Us
Fostering is free, temporary, and one of the most impactful and rewarding opportunities for animal lovers. If approved, we will work with you to match you with an animal that meets your general criteria.
General Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to foster with us, you must:
Ensure all animals in the household are up to date on their vaccinations
Provide a veterinary reference
If renting, provide proof of permission to foster (e.g., lease agreement or landlord reference
Agree to a brief video tour of the space the foster animal would stay
These criteria are in place for the protection of you, your pets, and the potential foster. If you do not meet these criteria, there are still many other ways to help! Volunteering is a great way to help animals.
Adopt
Stay up to date on our adoptable animals by following us on social media or joining our newsletter! Feel free to reach out to us directly with any questions.
The adoption general eligibility criteria is similar to the foster criteria mentioned above.
We have exciting updates in the works and canโt wait to share them soon! As always, we appreciate your support in helping animals in need.
